Fundraising

If as an individual you're keen to help raise money for our organisation, then we would recommend buying CLARITY products from your local representative. If you are a co-ordinator of a larger group effort however, you may want to donate a percentage of your fundraising effort towards a specific project or purpose at CLARITY, such as a scholarship, social fund or piece of equipment.

Please feel free to contact us with any queries regarding such a fundraising activity.

To help you decide what kind of event/activity you would like to organise we have listed below some ideas.

There are many ways that people can fundraise, from organising an event to taking part in a challenge/activity. They can be great fun and a really good way of bringing friends, families or work colleagues together.

Things to think about when organising an event:

Fix a date/Timing
Planning well in advance will give you the time to promote your event and gain more interest. Check to make sure that there are no other events happening in your area at the same time.

Budgeting/Costs - Think about any costs you may have when organising the event and stick to your budget. Set a target for the amount of money you want to raise

Involve your friends - ask friends, family and local businesses to donate their skills, help you organise your event, or donate items and prizes.

Promotion - invite as many people as you can and ask them to bring their friends and family. You could also put posters up in your local area and contact your local paper and radio station for coverage.

Paperless Sponsorship - Set up a web page for your event or for your fundraising and encourage people to donate online. To find out more go to www.justgiving.com

Every Click Helps - Why not replace your regular internet search engine with www.everyclick.com - if you nominate us as your designated charity, each search can raise money towards upcoming projects.

Risks - take the time to think about any possible risks and work out solutions to them. The chances are you won't have to use them, but a little bit of forward planning can prevent bad situations getting worse. It is a good idea to have a back up plan or alternative venue.

Insurance and licences - If your event is potentially hazardous you must have the correct insurance. If it is particularly dangerous, inform the local authority or police.

Find out about matched giving - If your employer is in a matched giving scheme ask them to equal the amount you have raised.

Gift Aid - Ask your sponsors to gift aid their donations. You'll get the most out of your sponsorship as we receive an extra 25% with no extra cost to anyone.

Have fun! Make sure your event is fun and appeals to the people you want to raise money from!

Thank your supporters - Say a big thanks to all your supporters. Their contribution will make a real difference to the lives of partially sighted and blind people. Don't forget to tell them how much money they raised after the event. Feel free to notify us as well so that we can also thank them.

What to do with the money - When you are ready to bank the money you have raised please contact us. We will advise you on what you need to do and most importantly we will be able to thank you.
